Vertical Square Knot
The vertical square knot is tied in the same way as the square knot (ma-musubi, ふろしき) but with a twist at the end.

A square knot is commonly used to tie furoshiki, often utilized as a
carrying bag. This knot is resistant to loosening, making it ideal for
such applications. A special technique is required to untie the knot,
which is straightforward when adhered to.
Attention: The term 'square knot' is also used to refer to other
completely different knots, such as the mathematical concept of a
square knot, or the friendship knot. The friendship knot earns its
name from its flat shape that forms a square on one side and a cross
on the other.
